He has contributed, as a successful producer, in the making of the Romanian band Akcent’s album No Tears, which got a number of hits in Europe like “Stay With Me”, “That’s My Name” and “Lover’s Cry”. He rose to prominence with his unique style of music featuring sounds of accordion. He became global celebrity in less than a year after the release of his first single “Stereo Love”, featuring Russian DJ Vika Jigulina in 2009.


Edward Maya, who hails from Romania, is famous a DJ, performer, musician, composer and producer. Edward Maya is coming to Lahore and will perform live on 27 January 2017 in DHA Lahore. Edward Maya’s specialty are Genres of House, electronic, deep house and electro house. He has also worked with many other Romanian music artisans like Akcent and Vika Jigulina. Maya launched his first song as an artist “Stereo Love” in the summer of 2009, which became the No.2 in the Romanian singles charts.

“Stereo Love” turned out to be a hit in clubs all over the world later that year. Man Kunto Maula – A Tribute to Amjad Sabri

Amjad Farid Sabri was a Pakistani vocalist and a supporter of the Sufi Muslim tradition. He was a son of Ghulam Farid Sabri of the Sabri Brothers. He appeared as one of South Asia’s most famous qawwali artists, frequently reciting poems composed by his father and uncle. He was shot dead in Karachi in a targeted killing professed by a fragment group of the Pakistani Taliban.

Amjad was born on 23 December 1970 and was died on 22 June 2016. He started to take the education of qawwali music from his father at the age of nine and he came on stage with his father to perform in front of an audience at the age of 12. His father taught him Raag Bhairon, which is practised in early morning. For this preparation Sabri needed to get up in the mid night, then after performing Tahajjud (a midnight prayer) practised the baja.

Sabri displayed the work of his family and toured widely to India, America and Europe where he was recognised as the “rock star” of qawwali. From then on he stayed a standout amongst the most acclaimed qawwali vocalists on the Indian subcontinent and performed all over the world. The last musical project of Sabri was with Coke Studio. His performance on the platform turned out to be his first and last one.

Man Kunto Maula is a Manqabat Qawwali song written by Amir Khusro in the commendation of Ali ibn Abi Talib – fourth Caliph of the Rashidun Caliphate. This qawwali is based on a hadith, i.e. a saying of Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him):

Whoever accepts me as a master, Ali is his master too.


Sabri Brothers (Ghulam Farid Sabri and Maqbool Ahmed Sabri) initially sang the qawwali Man Kunto Maula in 1975 and after that it was sung by many singers. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan (RFAK‎) is a Pakistani vocalist, essentially of Qawwali, a spiritual music of the Muslim Sufis. He is the nephew of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and son of Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan, furthermore the grandson of Qawwali artist Fateh Ali Khan. Other than Qawwali, he also performs ghazals and other light music. He is famous as a Bollywood and Lollywood playback singer.

Rahat’s uncle Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan picked him for his training in the traditions of Qawwali music. Rahat started singing with his uncle and father when he was three years old. In the age of seven he started formal training with his uncle and he gave his first presentation in public at the death anniversary of his grandfather when he was nine years old. At the age of 15, he was made a basic part of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s famous qawwali group. He visited the United Kingdom with his uncle in 1985, and performed solo songs other than singing with the Qawwali group.

At a show in Birmingham on 27 July 1985, he sang a solo ghazal, Mukh Tera Sohneya Sharab Nalon Changa Ae. At a show at the Harrow Leisure Centre in 1985, he sang a solo song, Gin Taare Lang Gaiyaan Rattaan. He sang Bollywood playback in the 90s and appeared as a playback vocalist in Bollywood with the movie Paap (2003), featuring the hit song, Mann Ki Lagan.

His latest works comprise of Pakistani nationalistic songs, for example, Dharti Dharti and Hum Pakistan, and songs from Bollywood movies. He has given his performances in Pakistan, India, UK and other countries. In April 2012 Rahat visited the United Kingdom, performing at Wembley Arena and the Manchester Arena, playing to combined viewers of more than 20,000 individuals.


Rahat turned into the first Pakistani to be welcomed at 2014 Nobel Peace Prize, to perform at its show.
